Grazie Mille Signore Rodney

"Grazie Mille" is Italian for "a thousand thanks." This morning I missed my Yoga class because there were time sensitive errands that had to be run right during class time. I was a little bummed as I'd rather be in a class and feeling the present energy than be popping a DVD in at home. Plus if I go to class Kellen gets the added benefit of running around and socializing at Gold's Daycare. But alas, sometimes there are forces that keep us from what we really want to do and we have to improvise. Step in Power Yoga with Rodney Yee. This is a video I purchased years ago, I think 4 or 5. I did it many times after Kellen was born before I could start going to the gym again and he was old enough for daycare. It's a great kick butt yoga workout!

Plus I get to use my personal yoga studio. Well, I do have to share it with Kellen's toys but it still does the job and it looks super cool. I decorated the room with elephants, candles, pictures of the people who matter most to me, and my iPod docking station.

And have you seen my new meditation pillow? Isn't it beautiful! A great addition to my yoga room.

This afternoon I made some delicious Sicilian Caponata. I couldn't find Lidia's recipe so I searched the Internet for something close to her delicious dish. I found this recipe on Pinterest from another friend who was also living in Sicily at the time we were. Sicilian Caponata tastes best after its been sitting in the fridge for a day so I plan on eating this delicious cold salad tomorrow with my friend Rasa. http://www.apronandsneakers.com/2011/09/caponata.html

Home Grown

If I forgot to mention than I'm sorry. The reason I've been MIA lately is because we finally got into our new home. As I stated in previous blog entries we were in the process of buying a short sale. I'm not sure why they call it a short sale because it was anything but short. It took 7 months from the time we submitted our offer to the time we moved in. It was all worth it though because I absolutely adore our home. Today I spent some time outside in our beautiful yard. The weather in Las Vegas right now is gorgeous and all of us want to be outside in the sun. After we moved in I realized what exactly the property has in terms of landscape and vegetation. I was surprised and o so very pleased to see we have a peach tree, pear tree, fig tree, lemon tree, lavender bush, mint and rosemary all growing! The peach tree and fig tree have fruit growing but not ripe yet. The lavender, mint and rosemary all smell divine. Kellen loves to pick the lavender and walk around sniffing it. Then like most little boys do, he drops it to the ground and begins stomping on it with his shoes. Hahahaha. I can't help but laugh, he is such a funny kid.

The figs look the closest to being ripe. I'm so excited to eat them fresh AND to use them dried and chopped in my different recipes.
